About the Event
Level 5 Creating Digital Media students present a curated screening of short films made for the Impressions of the Matter live brief, responding to John Ruskin’s lecture The Storm-Cloud of the Nineteenth Century. Developed through a six-week DIY filmmaking process, each 90–120 second piece begins from a chosen fragment of Ruskin’s text and works outward through image, sound and performance to explore weather, atmosphere and perception today. The films draw on city locations, voice, experimental sound design and occasional AI-generated elements to reimagine Ruskin’s turbulent skies for contemporary screens.
