About
In 2018, Sheffield Hallam University completed the refurbishment of a new drama space for the College of Social Sciences and Arts as part of an ambitious project to expand the existing performing arts facilities and cater for a wide variety of student and professional productions.
The Performance Lab launch team was nominated for a an Inspirational Teaching Award for organising an exciting programme of events to mark the opening of the venue. This included a talk with special guest Sam West, as well as performances by staff, students, and visiting artists.

The new facilities in Arundel Gate Court feature two theatre studios, the installation of state-of-the-art lighting and audio rigs, and bespoke backstage facilities; including changing areas, and a green room equipped with iMacs, kitchenette, and lockers.
These flexible and bright performance and teaching spaces are spread over two floors and have been adapted and refurbished to provide a well-equipped and practical environment that will be used for teaching and public performances.
Our team features performance studies academics and professional artists. Teaching staff include: Ashley Barnes, Dr Dani Abulhawa, Neil Sissons, Dr Hayley Bradley, Dr Kate Johnson, Dr Henry Bell and Dr Tom Payne.
